The journey through pregnancy and childbirth has inspired me to work with other Mothers and Mums-to-be. I am passionate about healthy pregnancies and beautiful natural birthing. I like to approach pregnancy and birthing holistically - through movement (yoga/pilates) sound nutrition, complimentary natural therapies, meditation and KNOWLEDGE.
Women are amazing. The female body is amazing. Women need to feel EMPOWERED and EXCITED to give birth - through my support and guidance I hope I can spread this notion among new Mums.
I want to empower women and encourage them to trust themselves, their bodies and their intuition. A woman should feel strong, confident, and supported during her pregnancy and birthing journey. I take a holistic approach to pregnancy & birth and strive to provide women with the information and guidance they need to make mindful choices. Baby learns how to feel peaceful, safe and calm while in the womb - EVERYTHING is through Mum -not just the physical stuff. I like to combine wholesome nutrition ideas, yoga, meditation and mindfulness in preparing for birth. I am there not only to support and guide the Mother, but for the Father/partner.... to make sure that everyone involved feels comfortable and READY to experience the amazingness! All women deserve to experience a birth in which they feel empowered and in control. Working with Mothers (to be) and their families is a true blessing - being allowed to partake in someone's sacred birthing journey is an honor.
Make sure to keep an eye on my workshop page and Facebook feed for updates on workshops and sessions. Private sessions (prenatal yoga, energy healing, holistic birthing classes, meditation) are always available.
Testimonial from Melanie: "I first met Lou when I was 20 weeks pregnant with our son. After a very medicalised birth with my daughter and a really tough postpartum period I wanted to do everything in my power to try to avoid this second time around.
At our first meeting we discussed pregnancy, birth, motherhood and life in general. I knew she was "the one". The one that I hoped would see me though a natural childbirth, the one that would tell the midwife what I wanted when I couldn't. The one to keep my husband focused and help him help me.
During the next 20 weeks we did yoga, visualisation, discussed birth options, diet, pain management, plans for the big day and everything in-between. I felt ready, and even a little excited, most of all I felt strong and prepared.
The big day arrived and Lou was there as soon as I needed. Together with my husband they made sure I had everything I needed. Rubbed my back during contractions, reminded me of my breathing and told me positive affirmations. She liaised with my midwife and her help was invaluable. She just knew what I needed, suggested positions, helped me in the shower and encouraged me when I felt I couldn't go on. Our gorgeous son Luca was born without any pain relief and surrounded by so much love. It's a day I will never forget.
Lou left the hospital that afternoon with a little white tub containing my placenta and promised to bring me back some dried placenta capsules. Less than 2 days later she dropped into the hospital with a glass jar of goodies. I noticed the difference within the first couple of days...no baby blues, no crying, no uncontrollable sobbing....just me, and our beautiful baby. I kept popping the placenta pills and although I was tired I never felt the exhaustion and hormone shift I had previously. I felt like me, and my husband definitely noticed the difference. I enjoyed the having a new baby in the house.
The sincerest of thank yous Lou, for helping me bring our beautiful boy into this world and giving me the chance to enjoy his newborn goodness. We will be forever grateful xx
